Loot and DKP system of Echo
Echo is using a modified version of the Zero-Sum DKP system. The system and rules discussed below apply only to 25 men raiding, see also the
Raiding and Signups article.
For each content tier there is a different DKP pool. The starting amount of the new DKP pool is based on the total earned in the previous pool.
Each raid drop (item) is put up for sale to the raid by the assigned Master Looter. First for main spec (need), second for off-spec (roll).
Any BoP item not sold or given to off-spec will be disenchanted.
Any BoE item not sold or given to off-spec will be put in the guild bank (see
Banked items).
In cases where the raid has to move fast due to timer restrictions or scripted events, all items will be looted by the Master Looter and sold later (within the two hour trade window).
For BiS items it is allowed to need/roll on items that are other than your primary armor type. So e.g. Warriors are allowed to take leather or mail items, but please take into consideration that e.g. Rogues and Shamans cannot take plate.
Not everything can be put down on paper or fixed by rules, therefore the following statement is necessary:
The selling process is subject to the opinion of the Raid Leaders, Class Masters and Officers. If the majority of them is against a specific player/class/spec needing or rolling on an item, the player is not eligible to loot the item. They can also decide to deviate from any rule on a case by case decision.
DKP gaining in raids
When an item is sold in the raid, the sell price is split over the present players in the raid and all gain an equal amount of dkp (zero-sum standard). [sell price] / [present players] = [dkp per player]
Progress bosses will give 20 dkp per hour spend on them. A boss is considered progress until it is killed the first time. The time spend will be rounded per 15 min.
A raid wide bonus might be given when the Raid Leaders or Officers find it appropriate.
If a player is replaced on request by the Raid Leaders or Officers, these can decide to give the player the same amount of dkp as the present players or any value as compensation.
Players classified as back-up for a raid will gain half the amount of DKP as the present players.
DKP spending in raids
Out of the people needing on an item, the person with the highest amount of current DKP will get the item. Rank priority does apply. The item’s cost is deducted from the buyers DKP.
Each item has a fixed price based on item level and socket. The prices are shown in the article
DKP prices.
You can need on more than one item for the same slot, but you will pay DKP for both. This is e.g. if you want both the +hit as the +crit item for your main spec. See also the
Off-spec rules for this.
Tier tokens will be charged the highest price until you have updated to the lootmaster/officers what item you purchased, after which the price will be adjusted.
Rank and off-spec priorities
There are four ranks that count for the priority: Raider, Recruit, Member and Alt. The other ranks (Guild Master, Officer, Banker, Class Master and Raid Leader) are considered as Raider.
Players that use their off-spec more frequently in raids are given an ‘off-spec priority’. Raid Leaders and Officers can also request a player to collect a certain set, in which case they are given an off-spec priority too.
Rank priorities are as follows:
Raider MS > Recruit MS > OS Prios > Raider OS & Members
1 > Recruit OS > Alt
2 > Guest
3
1 - It is subject to a case by case decision whether a Raider with no off-spec priority will be given an item over a member, mainly based on attendance of the member.
2 - Alts are only taken to a raid on request by the Raid Leaders or Officers if it is absolutely needed for an encounter.
3 - Guests are players that are not in the guild. They are only taken to a raid on request by the Raid Leaders or Officers.

Off-spec rules
If no-one needed the item it will be auctioned as off-spec. Off-spec is a tricky subject, and here we will try to explain as good as possible how it is handled.
The main thing that changed here is that dps classes can now also roll on items for off-spec, without having bought the same slot item for their main spec yet.
What we want to achieve is that the distribution of gear remains equal and fair for main spec, and at the same time players can gear up their (raid used) off-spec. If you have no intentions of using an off-spec in raids, do not roll on the loot. Pass on it for a fellow class mate that will use it, or let the guild bank have the shard so we can keep providing guild repairs.
So, what is off-spec? The term off-spec has two meanings:
1) Not your main spec. So items that you do not use for this, but do use for a different spec.
2) Items you do not need to pay DKP for. You have already paid DKP for an item of the same or higher item level.
@1:
For some situations this is easy to see for us. Mostly when it involves items with tank stats, +hit or +mp5 and also when it involves melee versus caster specs.
For other situations we will have to depend on our knowledge and judgement.
The rule we go by here is: "If you are not going to use this item for you main spec, you can roll on it for off-spec. No matter what stats are on the item or what class/spec you are".
@2:
This rule is the same as it was before: "If you paid dkp for an item of a specific slot, you don't need to pay dkp again for an item for the same slot with the same or lower item level". This is only applicable for items within the same dkp pool.
As there are two rings and trinkets, this rule is only applicable once you have paid for two items for that slot. For dual wielding classes, this also applies to weapons.
This rule does not apply when you have acquired an item of the same item level from Icecrown 10 or outside the guild. As the rule states: "
if you paid dkp for an item".
As the Ashen Verdict reputation ring is better than the 277 heroic rings for most classes, we have decided that in Icecrown you will only have to pay for one ring before the 2nd rule applies.
A couple examples to clarify these rules:
- Your main spec is dps and a tanking cloak drops. Following rule 1 you can roll on this item and get it with no dkp cost. This item is only used for your off-spec.
- Your main spec is dps and a dps cloak drops. It now depends on what spec you are going to use this for. If it is your main spec, you need and pay dkp. If it is
only for your off-spec, you can roll on it following rule 1.
- An item with +hit drops, and you want to use this as a upgrade for your main spec until you can get the +crit item which is BiS. You will have to need and pay dkp as this item is used for your main spec.
- You bought the +hit item (paid dkp) and now the +crit item drops. Following rule 2, you can now roll on the item.
- You have acquired an item from ICC10 heroic (ilvl 264) and want to replace this with an item from ICC25 normal (also ilvl264) for you main spec. As you have not paid yet for an item, you cannot roll on it for your main spec.
Do not try to get items for your main spec by rolling, if you haven't paid yet for an item. We will find out and we will have to act accordingly.
If you have gotten an item for off-spec, and decide you want to use this for your main spec afterwards. Let an officer know asap and we will correct it.
Banked items
A banked item can be bought by any guild member (rank and off-spec priorities do apply). If the item is requested by a player that joins raids frequently
4, it can be bought for dkp following the standard main-spec and off-spec rules. Else a fee equal to 50% of the AH price will be asked. If the item is not request within one week, it will be sold on the AH.
When an item is sold for dkp, those present in the raid where the item dropped will receive dkp (zero-sum).
4 - Raiders and recruits default, members on a case by case decision. Alts can never buy an item for dkp.
DKP penalties
The following penalties have been set as a means of enforcing the rules that apply to our raiding system. We have no intentions of being a bunch of grumpy old ppl that are looking for ways to slap as many players as we can, but we do want to make things smoother. Having to wait each raid for someone to show 30 min past the invite time isn't fun for the 24 players waiting. And having to remind multiple players each raid that they need to sign is getting tedious. It should be standard you check your status and update it if necessary. The tools we provide for this are easy and fast enough.
- Minus 10 DKP for being late. Late is not being online within 10 minutes of the invite time (by xx:40), the player will also be replaced by a back-up at that time. Logging past the invite time, but before the ‘late time’ repeatedly can also result in this penalty being given.
- Minus 20 DKP for not signing to a raid on the raid planner. Missing the sign-up deadline repeatedly, and being repeatedly signed by an admin can also result in this penalty being given.
- Minus 30 DKP for not showing to a raid after having signed up (so also when not confirmed!). Not showing is not being online within 60 minutes of the invite time.
For each repeated violation of the above rules within a two week window, the DKP cost of the penalty will be doubled. E.g. 1st time late 10 DKP, 2nd time late 20 DKP, 3rd time late 40 DKP and when not being late for two weeks the next penalty is 10 DKP again.
Be sure to whisper an officer/raidleader when you come online late so they notice!
